Non-surgical nose reshaping with hyaluronic acid

Non-surgical nose reshaping is the correction of nose irregularities with small amounts of hyaluronic acid, without surgery. The gel is applied at strategic points to camouflage a dorsal hump (the bump on the bridge), lift or project the tip and correct asymmetries. The procedure does not reduce the size of the nose. At Yamagata Dermatologia, in Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro, it is performed by dermatologists after a medical evaluation.

How it works

In non-surgical nose reshaping, hyaluronic acid is applied in small amounts at strategic points of the nose. By filling the areas above and below the hump, the gel makes the bridge straighter; applied at the base and tip, it can lift the tip and improve the angle between the nose and the lip.

The effect is one of camouflage: the nose does not become smaller, but the irregularities become less visible and the profile more harmonious.

Indications

Non-surgical nose reshaping is indicated for small irregularities of the nose in people who do not want, or are not candidates for, surgery. Large noses or significant deviations are treated with rhinoplasty.

Treated areas

NoseBridge (hump and depressions) · Nasal tip · Angle between the nose and the lip · Asymmetries

What a session is like

The doctor assesses the nose from the front and in profile and defines the injection points. After cleaning and applying a numbing cream, the gel is applied with a fine needle or cannula, in small amounts, shaping the nose during the procedure.

Recovery

There may be mild swelling, tenderness and small bruises in the first few days. You can return to your activities on the same day.

Sessions and results

The result is visible right after the application. The number of sessions and the interval between them depend on the dermatologist's individual evaluation and on each patient's clinical concern. The effect lasts, on average, 12 to 18 months and varies from person to person.

Contraindications

Non-surgical nose reshaping is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding, over infections or active inflammation of the skin of the nose, for people allergic to the product's components, or in cases that require surgery. Previous rhinoplasty and permanent fillers in the nose require careful evaluation.

At the evaluation, the dermatologist reviews your health history, current medications and previous procedures to confirm the indication.

All procedures are recommended and performed after an individual medical evaluation. Results vary from person to person.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Does non-surgical nose reshaping make the nose smaller?

No. It adds small amounts of gel to camouflage irregularities, which can make the nose look more harmonious, but it does not reduce its size. To make the nose smaller, the indication is rhinoplasty (surgery).

Can I have it if I have had a rhinoplasty?

In some cases, yes, to correct small irregularities after surgery. The evaluation must be careful, because the blood supply of an operated nose may be altered, and a minimum time after surgery is usually required.

Is non-surgical nose reshaping safe?

The nose has important blood vessels, which requires detailed knowledge of the anatomy and careful technique. For this reason, the procedure should be performed by a physician, with a suitable product and in a setting prepared to manage any complications.

How long does it last?

On average, 12 to 18 months. The nose has little movement, which helps the result last, and duration varies from person to person.
