Skinboosters: injectable hydration and skin glow
Skinboosters are applications of low-density hyaluronic acid in microdroplets, distributed in the dermis (the layer of skin just below the surface). Instead of adding volume, the product retains water in the skin and mildly stimulates collagen, improving the hydration, glow, texture and fine lines of the face, neck, décolletage and hands. At Yamagata Dermatologia, in Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro, they are applied by dermatologists after a medical evaluation.

How it works
Moisturizing creams act mainly on the surface of the skin. Skinboosters deliver hyaluronic acid directly to the dermis, where it attracts and retains water, like a reservoir. Because it is a low-density gel applied as microdroplets, the product integrates into the skin without creating volume.
In addition to hydration, the presence of hyaluronic acid in the dermis mildly stimulates fibroblasts, which contributes to skin elasticity and texture over time.

What a session is like
After cleaning and applying a numbing cream, the doctor applies the product with a fine needle or cannula, as microdroplets spread across the whole treated area.
Recovery
Right after the session, small bumps appear at the injection points and disappear within one to two days. Redness and small bruises may occur. You can return to your activities on the same day.
Sessions and results
The skin becomes more hydrated and radiant in the weeks following the application. The number of sessions and the interval between them depend on the dermatologist's individual evaluation and on each patient's clinical concern. The response varies from person to person.
Contraindications
Skinboosters are not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding, over infections, herpes or active inflammation in the area, or for people allergic to hyaluronic acid. Active autoimmune diseases require evaluation.
At the evaluation, the dermatologist reviews your health history, current medications and previous procedures to confirm the indication.
All procedures are recommended and performed after an individual medical evaluation. Results vary from person to person.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
Do skinboosters add volume?
No. Skinboosters use low-density hyaluronic acid, applied as microdroplets in the skin, focusing on hydration and glow. Denser hyaluronic acid fillers are used to restore volume.
What is the difference between skinboosters and Profhilo (hyaluronic acid)?
Skinboosters are applied as microdroplets at many points, focusing mainly on hydration and glow. Profhilo (hyaluronic acid) has a higher concentration, is applied at a few points and focuses more on firmness and elasticity. The two can be combined.
How long does the effect last?
The hydration effect usually lasts a few months, and the frequency of maintenance sessions is defined by the dermatologist according to how the skin responds.
Can skinboosters be used on the lips?
Yes. On the lips, skinboosters improve hydration and a dry appearance without increasing volume.
