Evolla®: radiofrequency and microneedling for skin firmness

Evolla® is a platform that combines three technologies in a single device: microneedling radiofrequency (Evolla® XL), monopolar radiofrequency (Evolla® MP) and robotic microneedling. All of them use heat or controlled micro-injuries to stimulate collagen production and are indicated for skin laxity, uneven texture, acne scars and stretch marks, on the face and body. At Yamagata Dermatologia, in Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro, treatments are performed by dermatologists after a medical evaluation.

How it works

The three Evolla® technologies share the same principle: creating a controlled stimulus in the skin so that the body produces new collagen, improving skin firmness, thickness and texture over the months. What changes between them is how the stimulus is delivered and how deep it reaches.

  • Evolla® XL, microneedling radiofrequency: microneedles penetrate the skin and release energy at the chosen depth, within the dermis.
  • Evolla® MP, monopolar radiofrequency: heats the tissues deeply and evenly, without needles.
  • Robotic microneedling: creates microchannels in the skin with depth control, with the option of delivering active ingredients (drug delivery) or combining it with a peel.

Indications

Treated areas

Evolla® MPUpper face (forehead and eyebrows) · Neck · Double chin · Jawline · Full face · Abdomen

MicroneedlingFace · Décolletage · Stretch marks · Scars

What a session is like

The doctor chooses the technology and settings according to the area and the goal. For Evolla® XL and microneedling, a numbing cream is applied beforehand; with Evolla® MP, the sensation is one of heat and anesthesia is usually not needed. A session lasts about 1 hour.

Recovery

With Evolla® MP, there is no recovery: the skin may be slightly pink for a few hours. With Evolla® XL and microneedling, the skin is red and a little swollen for one to three days, and small dots that flake off during the first week may appear.

Sessions and results

The number of sessions and the interval between them depend on the dermatologist's individual evaluation and on each patient's clinical concern. The result appears gradually as new collagen is produced and varies from person to person.

Contraindications

Evolla® is not recommended during pregnancy, for people with pacemakers or other implanted electronic devices, over metal implants in the area, or over wounds, infections or active skin inflammation. The specific contraindications of each technology are described on the Evolla® XL and Evolla® MP pages.

At the evaluation, the dermatologist reviews your health history, current medications and previous procedures to confirm the indication.

All procedures are recommended and performed after an individual medical evaluation. Results vary from person to person.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Evolla® XL, Evolla® MP and Evolla® microneedling?

Evolla® XL uses microneedles that deliver radiofrequency into the dermis and is indicated for laxity, scars and stretch marks. Evolla® MP heats the tissues without needles, focusing on firmness and contour, and requires no recovery. Robotic microneedling creates microchannels in the skin, without radiofrequency, and can be combined with the delivery of active ingredients.

Which Evolla® technology is right for me?

The choice depends on the concern, the area, the skin type and your availability for recovery time. This is decided at the appointment, and the technologies can be combined in the same treatment plan.

Does Evolla® replace surgery?

No. Evolla® improves mild to moderate laxity and skin quality, but it does not remove excess skin. In cases of marked laxity, plastic surgery tends to be more appropriate.

Can Evolla® be used on darker skin tones?

Yes, with adjusted settings. Radiofrequency technologies do not depend on skin color to work, but darker skin is more prone to dark spots after inflammation, which requires care before and after the sessions.
