Body biostimulator Elleva X (poly-L-lactic acid): firmness of the body skin
The body biostimulator is the application of poly-L-lactic acid (at the clinic, Elleva X) to the body to stimulate collagen production and improve skin firmness, thickness and quality. It is indicated for laxity and cellulite associated with laxity in areas such as the buttocks, thighs, abdomen and arms, with or without subcision. At Yamagata Dermatologia, in Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro, it is applied by dermatologists after a medical evaluation.

- Numbing cream or local anesthesia
- Result
- Gradual, from 2 to 3 months
- Combination
- With or without subcision
How it works
Poly-L-lactic acid is a biostimulator: once applied, it stimulates fibroblasts to produce new collagen around the product particles. Over time, the body absorbs the product and the collagen formed remains, making the skin thicker, firmer and with better texture.
On the body, the product is diluted and applied in a fan pattern, covering large areas. For cellulite, it can be combined with subcision, which releases the fibers responsible for the dimples.

What a session is like
The doctor assesses the skin and marks the areas. After cleaning and anesthesia, the product is applied with a cannula or needle, distributed in a fan pattern across the region. When combined with subcision, both procedures are done in the same session. A session lasts about 1 hour.
Recovery
There may be swelling, tenderness and bruising, more intense when subcision is combined. You can return to light activities the next day.
Sessions and results
The improvement in firmness starts to be noticed two to three months after the application and develops over the following months. The number of sessions and the interval between them depend on the dermatologist's individual evaluation and on each patient's clinical concern.
Contraindications
The body biostimulator is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding, over wounds or active infections, for people allergic to the product's components, or for those prone to keloids. Active autoimmune diseases and previous permanent fillers in the area require evaluation.
At the evaluation, the dermatologist reviews your health history, current medications and previous procedures to confirm the indication.
All procedures are recommended and performed after an individual medical evaluation. Results vary from person to person.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
Does the body biostimulator increase buttock volume?
The main goal is skin firmness and quality. There may be a subtle improvement in contour, but volume gain is not the focus; when volume is the goal, other treatments may be combined, according to the evaluation.
Why combine it with subcision?
In cellulite, subcision releases the fibers that form the dimples, and the biostimulator improves skin firmness. Together, they treat two different components of cellulite.
When do the results show?
New collagen is produced over weeks. The improvement starts to be noticed two to three months after the application and continues over the following months.
Do I need to massage the area?
Yes. After the application of poly-L-lactic acid, massaging the area for a few days is usually recommended, to distribute the product evenly.
